Graham High School Lady Blues softball players joined coaches in teaching the fundamentals of softball to young athletes, and had a little fun while they were at it. The camp was held June 11-13 during the morning at Graham Softball Field. About 40 young girls from incoming second through ninth graders spread out into different stations as Lady Blues softball players helped lead drills and informal games each day. “When I got hired here last year we were able to put a camp together towards the later part of July,” Lady Blues head coach Adam Arrington said. “I was glad to get this right back at the end of school. Coming off a good season like we had, I wanted to open this camp up to the younger ones. A lot of people who hold camps don’t open it up to incoming second graders but we thought that if they wanted to come out and be a part of Lady Blues softball, then we would take them in. I wanted them to come out and get to know some of the varsity players and pick up on the little things of softball.” Along with Arrington, coaches Mandy Cernosek, Jimmy Hogan and Trey Kramer took part of the camp. On Tuesday, several Lady Blues players, including Tatum Trester, Alex Husen, Morgan Patterson and Callie Dobbs, took part by leading the drills.
