The annual Steers and Lady Blues baseball and softball skeet shoot fundraiser is approaching fast. Taking place Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Young County Warrior Ranch, the fundraiser supports uniforms and tournament travel for both teams.

Located at 1889 Turtle Hole Road, the fundraiser will include a silent auction, gun raffle and a barbecue lunch. The entry fee is $20 per shooter.

“(The skeet shoot) helps promote the baseball and softball teams, local businesses and raises funds for the program that help the development and experience of Graham players,” Steers baseball coach Allen McGee said. “I love seeing people in the community come out and support the young men and women that participate in baseball and softball. (It) lets the teams know that the community is riding for the brand and know they will support them in everything they do.”

Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. with shooting beginning at 9 a.m. Registration comes with a free barbecue lunch. Spectators are invited to attend, with donations accepted for lunch. Funds raised at the shoot go towards travel to overnight tournaments and buying uniforms, extra balls, nets and other training equipment.

“The skeet shoot helps raise funds for what our school budget doesn’t cover,” Lady Blues coach Adam Arrington said. “Things we have bought in the past include things such as hitting nets, new bats, new jerseys, new balls, new hitting mats, new lockers in our locker room at the field, door wraps at the field.”
