Steers and Lady Blues track teams compete at Bluebonnet Relay events

The Graham varsity track teams faced plenty of competition this weekend. Both the Steers and Lady Blues competed at the annual Bluebonnet Relays from Brownwood High School at Gordon Wood Stadium. The Graham Lady Blues finished with a team total of 77 points, with the Steers claiming 122 points in a tough boys division. Claire Jones got the Lady Blues off to a solid start winning the 100-meter dash. She clocked in at 12.96. Teammate Olivia Shifflett claimed sixth overall with a time of 13.66. Julia Grimes finished in sixth overall in the 200-meter dash at 28.88, with Shifflett clocking in at 28.98 in eighth place. Junior varsity runner Chayah Cornell clocked in at 30.16 in sixth place in her race. Cassie Russell earned fourth in the 400-meter dash event with a time of 1:04.25. Fellow Lady Blue Rosie Schaffer earned eighth overall with a time of 1:07.90. In the JV race, Baylee Marshall claimed seventh with a time of 1:11.88.
