Steers baseball goes 3-3 at Gunter/Sanger Tournament
Graham baseball opened its 2017 season this past weekend at the Gunter/Sanger tournament. The Steers managed to come away with an even 3-3 record.
Graham 3, Allen JV 1
Opening day brought with it a first victory. Graham managed to win a narrow contest over the 6A Allen Eagles junior varsity squad. Evan Schraub opened the scoring with an RBI single to center in the bottom of the second. Allen tied the game on an RBI groundout in the top of the third.
A fielder’s choice RBI from Jaxon Brockway gave the Steers a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Nathan King sealed the game with an RBI single in the same inning.
Jacob Jones got the win on the mound for Graham, throwing five innings. He allowed one run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Ian Villa threw one inning of relief allowing just one walk with one strikeout.
Holliday 8, Graham 4
Game two was full of errors for the Steers. Seven total errors hindered Graham, as the Holliday Eagles won by four runs.
