Steers basketball stomps over Lake View in playoff opener

When the starting gun for the boys’ basketball playoffs sounded this week, the Graham Steers shot out of the blocks.

Graham raced past its bi-district opponent San Angelo Lake View, scoring 12 points in the first 4 minutes of action as the Steers cruised to a 77-44 victory on Tuesday evening at Clyde High School.

Steers’ starting forward Case Birch put his signature on the first-round matchup very early and often. Birch came up with six quick points and and dropped off an assist for fellow senior Cameron Mason during Graham’s game-opening 28-7 run.

The Steers dominated the paint early on, scoring 22 of their first 29 points from inside the paint.
