The Graham Steers returned home as bi-district champions after a complete victory over the Godley Wildcats.

From the jump, the Steers were dominant Friday, Nov. 14 in Aledo. One of the key players who took over early was Colt Taylor.

In the first half alone Taylor had multiple rushing touchdowns and was a force on defense.

The defensive unit halted the Wildcats on a drive where they were trying to get on the scoreboard to cut into the Steers’ 14-0 lead, but Taylor put a stop to that with a sack to force a turnover on downs.

Mike Garcia was also running the ball hard throughout the game and was pivotal on a drive in the second quarter that led to a Jace Gill field goal to make it 17-0.

Jordan Alexander and Taylor teamed up for hard hitting plays on the Wildcats drive after and once again Taylor forced a fourth down on a big tackle.

The Steers pounded the ground game to end the half and ran a fake quarterback sneak with Gill for another touchdown to make it 24-0 Graham.

Graham scored one more touchdown in the second half to bring the game to its final score.

Garcia had another big carry and Gill started to open things up in the passing game, finding Brodie Martin and eventually Parker Hale who raced to the right corner of the endzone for a touchdown.

The Steers attempted an extra point but the snap was botched. However, Cooper Corley stayed composed and ran the ball to the left pylon for a two point conversion to make it to the final score of 32-0.

Corley came through again later in the fourth quarter with an interception to keep the shutout intact.

“The best teams get it going in the playoffs and we’re peaking at the right time,” head coach Clay McChristian said.

The Steers area round matchup will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene against Lubbock Cooper Liberty.
