Steers compete at 7-on-7 State Tournament

After a successful day during pool play of the state 7-on-7 tournament, the Steers were knocked out in the second round during bracket play of the tournament Friday, June 28.

Graham competed in Pool C of Division II 2019 Texas 7-on7 Championships as they began their quest towards a second 7-on-7 state title since 2017at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.

The Steers powered through their pool with victories over Boerne (48-33), Spring Hill (29-18) and Hitchcock (32-20).

On the second day of the tournament with bracket play kicking off, the Steers faced off against Crockett. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in pool G and finished in a three-way tie for second. The Steers stampeded past the Bulldogs on their way to a 48-38 victory.

In round two, Graham faced Jim Ned who finished 1-2 in Pool A play, but was coming off a 28-19 victory over Stafford. The Indians’ momentum carried them to a 39-27 victory over the Steers and past Dumas into the semi-finals.

Sunnyvale went on to defeat Pleasant Grove 34-27 to win their first ever Division II state title. A&M Consolidated won the Division I state title and Poth took home their first ever Division III title.
