It was among the unique weeks in Steers Football history. Coaches had less than 48 hours to put together a game plan. Players had even less time to prepare. Adding to the challenges, the Steers were hosting the Class 5A Everman Bulldogs and a Division I recruit. Ultimately none of that mattered as the Steers posted a convincing 30-21 victory Friday night.

The phone call came in for Steers coach Kenny Davidson last Wednesday evening. The only condition Davidson had was the Bulldogs had to travel to Graham. Everman agreed and the game was on.

“Our coaches got to work,” Davidson said. “We had five coaches at home doing virtual teaching and they put in a late night preparing for these guys.”
