Steers defeat Iowa Park, one win from district championship

The Steers faced self-inflicted adversity early in the first of two games against Iowa Park Tuesday night. Showing signs of improvement from a recent loss to Vernon, the Steers overcame four errors in the first two innings to defeat the Hawks 8-3. The win places the Steers in first place with one game remaining in the district schedule.

Entering the game, Steers head coach Jim Bob Williams expected a tough battle with the Hawks. He knew that hits would be tough to come by and the team needed to limit their mistakes.

“That was the key tonight and it will be again next week,” he said.
