Steers drop first district game in extra-inning affair

Hits were at a premium Friday in a matchup of the top two teams in District 6-4A. In the end, Vernon was able to score a pair of runs in the ninth inning to hand the Graham varsity baseball team their first district loss of the season 3-1.

The Steers continued their trend of great starts to the game on the mound, as starting pitcher Owen Loesch did all he could for his team by going six innings scattering seven hits with seven strikeouts.

The only blemish on his line came on a Garrett Pierce double in the sixth inning to tie the game at one after Graham finally broke the scoreless draw in the fifth inning.
