Steers face cancellations in back-to-back weeks

Steers football coach Kenny Davidson was forced to scramble for a second week in a row after Wichita Falls High School canceled yesterday’s scheduled game against the Steers. The cancellation marks the second week after Hirschi canceled last week.

The cancellation also marks the fourth cancellation the Steers have faced with this season. The Steers’ schedule already had two open weeks when the schedule was announced in June. Sept. 11 and Nov. 6 were scheduled as open dates. A third one was created in July when Midland Greenwood canceled their Oct. 2 date with the Steers.

The second cancellation was in an attempt to place a game in Week 3, Sept. 11. Davidson had set up a game with Longview Spring Hill at Globe Life Park in Arlington. That matchup was canceled less than 24 hours later.
