Steers senior athletes were honored by the community and put up a fight Friday against the Rams.
The senior night celebration honored the hard work and dedication of senior athletes in the soccer program.
The celebration and game took place Friday, Feb. 13 at home at Newton field and the hometown crowd came out in full support.
One by one, each senior for the Graham soccer teams came out for a moment of recognition while coaches spoke about their time in the program, what they plan to do after they graduate, favorite memories and what each athlete said they will miss about the programs they are in.
On the Steers side of things, the team will be graduating six seniors after this season. Those respective seniors are Max Coyac, Nik Wankowicz, Jacob Collins, Saul Ramos, Jace Gill and Pablo Gonzalez.
Head Coach Tim Wankowicz had a message for the graduating seniors as they move on to the next phases of their lives.
“Work hard in life as you have for me these past four years and make us proud,” Wankowicz said.
Each of these seniors walked out onto the field alongside family, friends and loved ones as they each received time for personal photos as well as recognition for the community they have represented for years.
After this game, the Steers will have four more district games against Bridgeport, Burkburnett, Decatur and Mineral Wells.
The Steers currently sit at 1-3 in their district and will look to make a late season push to gain ground in the district.
The Steers will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 on the road against Bridgeport.
