Steers fall in Sweetwater

  • After taking a five-point lead into the second quarter Saturday, Nov. 19 at Sweetwater, the Steers were outscored 57-28 over the second and third quarters. Unable to overcome their 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Steers dropped to 1-1 for the season with a 79-65 loss to the Mustangs.  The Steers continued to move the ball around and get multiple players involved, with 10 different players scoring points in the loss.  Levi May, Tyson Weaver and Luke Padron each hit 3-pointers in the first quarter

After taking a five-point lead into the second quarter Saturday, Nov. 19 at Sweetwater, the Steers were outscored 57-28 over the second and third quarters. Unable to overcome their 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Steers dropped to 1-1 for the season with a 79-65 loss to the Mustangs.

The Steers continued to move the ball around and get multiple players involved, with 10 different players scoring points in the loss.

Levi May, Tyson Weaver and Luke Padron each hit 3-pointers in the first quarter to guide the Steers to their early lead. Brodie O’Dell contributed a team-high four points in the quarter to the cause.

The Steers struggled over the following two quarters to keep pace with the Mustangs and fell to an insurmountable deficit.

As a team, the Steers showed a continued improvement in their long-range shooting with a combined eight made 3-pointers in the game.

May led the Steers with 15 points in the loss. Weaver also finished in double-digits with 13 points.

The Steers looked to rebound Tuesday, Nov. 22 when they traveled to Cleburne. After taking time off from games for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Steers will return to action Tuesday, Nov. 29 when they travel to Comanche for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
