Steers get first win with 28-0 shutout

Fri, 09/09/2016 - 10:47 pm

The Graham Steers got their first win in a 28-0 shutout over the Hirschi Huskies Friday night at Newton Field.
The two teams came in with opposite records, Graham winless while the Huskies boasted dual victories and no losses.
But it was the Steers who came out with the first touchdown of the game to go up 7-0 early.
A Hirschi fumble on the ensuing drive gave Graham the ball in desirable field position where Jaxon Brockway walked it in from five yards out to put the score at 14-0.
Neither team scored again until late in the third quarter when a bad Hirschi snap on a fourth down punt attempt allowed Graham's Wes Martin to fall on the ball in the end zone to make it a 21-0 game.
Finally, the last Steers touchdown came on another Brockway five yard run with 11:54 left in the game to put the score at 28-0.
