If there’s one thing the Graham Steers have coming into the new year, it’s momentum. To finish out 2016 last week, GHS traveled to the Roundball Reunion in Fredericksburg for four games. Graham managed to put together a 3-1 record at the event, leaving them at 12-3 for the season. The Steers were scheduled to host Brownwood Tuesday night and will be on the road against No. 11 Argyle Friday night. Graham 68, Bandera 51 There were no signs of holiday rust for the Steers in their opening game against the Bulldogs. A solid second and third quarter effort was more than enough to hold off a late charge as the Steers won by 17. Graham held a slim 15-13 lead following the first quarter. But, it was a defensive charge before halftime that allowed the Steers to hold Bandera to just five points in the second. At the break it was all Graham leading 30-18. The offensive attack continued in the third as the Steers scored 20 points, before adding 18 more in the fourth. Despite managing 33 points in the second half, Bandera could never overtake Graham. Wesley Martin led the Steers with 22 points in the game, followed by Jack Mercer with 14 points. Jaxon Brockway put in 13 points.
