The Graham Steers boys varsity basketball summer league team came away with a winning record in the Texas Basketball Championships last weekend in the DFW Metroplex. Team members who competed for Graham were Cameron Mason, Marc Tate, Evan Ranger, Bryce Bozeman, Marcus Brooks, Brandon Teplicek, Trent White and Lane Brice. The team ended the weekend with a record of 3-2 and set the bar high heading into the upcoming season. The Steers began the first day with three games against Pool 4 foes-Krum, Denver City and Salado. Graham fell to a tough Krum team to begin the tournament. Tate and Bozeman led the team in scoring. The Steers regrouped and responded with two straight wins to finish the opening day. Behind Mason's seven-point opening quarter, Graham jumped out to a 12-6 lead over Denver City at Grapevine High School. The Mustangs closed the gap to 17-11 before the Steers went on a 11-0 run to end the half and begin to pull away. When the final horn sounded, Graham coasted to a 43-29 victory. Mason led the way with 20 points and a block. Brooks hit a couple of key 3-pointers in the second quarter and finished with seven points.....
