It did not take the Steers long to earn their first trip to the regional round since 2017. With a 49-7 win over the Perryton Rangers at Peoples Bank Stadium in Wolfforth, the Steers advance to face their former district foe Aubrey.

The Steers received the ball to start and they were off and running. The Rangers were fed a steady dose of the running game led by Daniel Gilbertson. With two touchdowns in less than six minutes, the Steers found themselves with a lead they went on to hold for the rest of the way.

From the Rangers’ first drive, the Steers defense set the tone. Facing third and long, Corey Ballew stuffed Abraham Hernandez in the backfield on the first of 13 third-down conversion attempts from the Raiders.
