The Graham Steers storybook season began a new chapter Saturday night from Globe Life Park in Arlington. Under the bright lights inside a former Major League Baseball stadium and a near-constant rain, the Steers season will continue after a second-quarter scoring burst propels the Steers over Aubrey with a 28-14 win.

The rain played into the hands of both sides as Aubrey’s Wing-T offense met the run-first Graham Steers. On the back of senior Daniel Gilbertson, the Steers ran, ran and ran some more. The opening quarter looked like just another battle between two teams who knew what each side had up their sleeve.

“They have a lot of seniors and we have a lot of seniors,” said Steers senior quarterback Hunter Lanham. “We used to play in the same district, so we’ve played each other a lot. Some things look familiar and that probably made it a little easier for both of us. We are both good senior-led teams.”
