The Graham Steers hosted Breckenridge Saturday afternoon for a non-district game before closing out the district schedule yesterday. The team entered the game looking to build momentum following last week’s shutout loss at Iowa Park. After falling behind two runs during the top of the second inning, the Steers responded to draw even during the bottom half of the inning and score two late runs to defeat the Buckaroos 4-2.

The Buckaroos looked to do damage with two outs during the top of the first inning. Ayden Reyes walked following a fly out and a strikeout by Parker Johnson. Chad Wilcox reached base after an error at third base that allowed Reyes to reach third. A four-pitch walk loaded the bases. Before the Buckaroos could score any runs, Wilcox was picked off at second base by the Johnson.

The Buckaroos loaded the bases for a second time during the top of the second inning. Marco Jaramillo singled to left field before Aaron Moore was hit by the second pitch of his at-bat. Zeke Castillo’s successful bunt loaded the bases. Karter Smalley hit into a fielder’s choice with Castillo thrown out at second base. Smalley earned an RBI when Jaramillo scored on the play. An error at second base allowed Moore to score on the same play before a fly out by Christian Arellano.
