The Graham Steers gave it their all this postseason in a run all the way to the regional finals.

Unfortunately for Graham, that would be all she wrote this year as the team lost to the Brock Eagles 7-0.

Much of the Steers undoing tonight was something that they had put behind in previous weeks, but came back to rear its ugly head - unforced errors.

After keeping things scoreless the first two innings, Brock finally broke through with with an RBI single that leaked into right field and and offline throw to home plate scored an additional run making it 2-0 Eagles.

A throwing error at first base scored an additional run for Brock making it a 3-0 contest.

“We made too many mistakes,” Head coach Allen McGee said. “You can't do it this late in the season.”

Brock ultimately put the dagger in any hopes of a comeback from Graham in the top of the sixth.

After securing an additional run, Brock had the bases loaded but the Steers had picked up two outs at that point.

When something needed to give, that came in the form of a bases clearing double from Brock into left center field making it a 7-0 game.

The Steers also had their share of scoring opportunities throughout the game.

Their most notable came in the bottom of the sixth when Mike Garcia picked up a leadoff walk and Tripp Mahaney followed that with a base hit moving Garcia to third.

However, Graham's shot at momentum was quickly dashed as three straight strikeouts ended the inning.

Despite the way the season ended, McGee expressed nothing but pride in his players.

“I'm beyond proud of these boys,” McGee said. “We weren't even picked to make the playoffs, let alone go into the regional finals.”

McGee also said that the grit and determination that the team showed to get back to “how Graham baseball is” was something he was the most proud of.
