The Varsity Steers dominated their first district game with a 15-0 blowout away against the Burkburnett Bulldogs on Friday, March 24. The Steers started their reign of the field early at the top of the first with a ground ball by Ian Villa which caused an error on the shortstop and allowed Jaxon Brockway to score. In the same play Adam Groves advanced to third and Evan Schraub to second with the Steers in the lead at 1-0. A sacrifice fly ball to center field got Kade Darrow out, but gave Groves the opportunity to score and Schraub to advance to third. With the score now at 2-0, Schraub used the next play as an opening to steal a run home for another score and the now 3-0 game switched to the Bulldogs at the bottom of the first. The Steers held the Bulldogs in the bottom of the first and into the top of the second Tucker Horn who was on second, ran home for a double off a fly ball made by Dillon Rodgers to the right fielder. Into the bottom of the second no points were made by either team with the game now at 4-0 into the third inning. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
