The Graham Steers returned to the playing field Friday, seven days removed from an on-field fight in which six players from each team were eventually suspended.

Missing three of those players for the first half, the Steers fell behind and struggled to gain offensive momentum. Trailing 21-0 at one point in the second quarter, the Steers ultimately lost to the Snyder Tigers, 35-21, Friday, Oct. 16.

Rylan Monsey, Ty Carter and Anthony Tate missed the first half while Zathin Reyes, Tate Loesch and Fernando Herrera missed the entire game. Those absences allowed the Tigers to take advantage of mismatches, particularly with Dyllan Angeley, who scored four of five Tigers’ touchdowns.

For the Tigers, it appeared their game plan was simple. When in doubt, get the ball to Angeley.

The first play from scrimmage foreshadowed the night to come for the Steers in a struggle to move the ball. A holding penalty on the Steers’ first play from scrimmage doomed the opening drive from the start. Unable to move the ball after the penalty, the Steers punted after a three-and-out.
