The Graham Steers are moving on to the area playoff. In a two-game sweep over Gatesville, the Steers never trailed. The Steers only struck out one time in a 7-2 win on Friday. Ryan Grimsley pitched a shutout in a 4-0 series-clinching win Saturday afternoon. Springtown awaits the Steers this weekend for the area championship.

Game One: Steers 7, Gatesville 2

The Steers racked up four hits in the first inning while scoring three runs. They never looked back. After Landon Hebert grounded out to start the game, Ben Williams, Brodie Bates, Corey Ballew and Parker Johnson each had one-out hits. Ballew hit an RBI double to left field which brought in Williams. Bates was brought home with a line drive by Johnson. The third run was scored on a ground out to shortstop by Noah Jilek, who still earned an RBI.

With two outs in the bottom half of the first inning, the Hornets earned one run back. Jaryn Poynter hit an RBI double that scored Banner Allman. The Hornets could only score one more run, in the bottom of the sixth inning.
