The Steers’ season came to an end Saturday at Brock High School. After a weather delay pushed a majority of Game 1 from Friday to Saturday, the Steers were swept 2-0 by the Argyle Eagles in the area playoff. After suffering a shortened 13-3 loss in six innings during Game 1, the Steers lost a pitcher’s duel 3-2 in Game 2.

The pair of losses end the Steers’ season with a 17-16 overall record in coach Allen McGee’s first year back as head coach. The Steers finished third in its final season in District 5-4A with a 6-4 district record.

The all-district awards will be announced when all district teams are eliminated from the playoffs. Iowa Park is the only 5-4A team remaining.

Eagles 13, Steers 3

The weather caused problems Friday night during Game 1. Although the game started Friday, lightning caused a postponement after the first half of the second inning.

Ryan Grimsley started on the mound for the Steers in Game 1 and gave up a bunt single to JC Davis to open the game. Grimsley struggled during the first inning, giving up a hit, walk and one run.
