The Graham Steers remain undefeated after beating the Breckenridge Buckaroos in their final game before Thanksgiving break.

It was a close contest Monday, Nov. 24, but the Steers stayed in control and pulled away with a 48-44 victory.

“I just told those guys that's who we are,” Head coach Quinton Fossett said. “It may not be the prettiest game in the world but we’re tough, we’re together and we’re going to find a way to win.”

The Steers came out of the first quarter trailing by a point to the Buckaroos 11-10. Cooper Wilde and Nick Wankowicz accounted for all of the scoring for the Steers offense in the opening quarter.

Wilde scored on two different two point attempts while Wankowicz hit three shots underneath the basket.

The Steers took the lead in the second quarter and held it going into halftime. Graham led by five points 21-16.

Tyler Allen and Jaden Neal combined for three free throws while Jagger Nees and Wankowicz hit another pair of two point shots each.

The Steers had another strong quarter in the third taking a double digit lead 37-26.

Allen hit a three pointer, Nees added a midrange shot, Wilde hit a pair of two point jumpers, Neal added to it with two points of his own and Wankowicz capped off the quarter with two more shots made under the basket and a free throw.

In the fourth quarter, the Buckaroos went on a bit of a run cutting the Graham lead down to four points, but the Steers hung on to win.

Nees had two more midrange buckets and a free throw. Wilde followed this up with a pair of two point makes of his own and Wankowicz rounded out the quarter with another bucket in the paint, continuing to dominate in the front court.

The Steers next matchup will be at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 on the road against Colorado City.
