Runs were scored early and often Tuesday evening at Hoskins Field in Wichita Falls. The Steers scored 10 runs before surrendering an out in the first inning en route to defeating the Hirschi Huskies 17-1. The win snapped a string of two-straight losses.

The Steers entered the game following losses to Burkburnett and Godley. The Huskies have struggled this season, losing multiple games by double digits.

Four Steers batters were hit by pitches in the first inning, beginning with lead-off hitter Noah Jilek. Mason Milton entered as a courtesy runner for Jilek and scored on an RBI single by Ben Williams. Williams scored via an error in right field before Parker Johnson walked on four pitches. Landen Harless reached on an error in left field and earned an RBI when Johnson scored on the play. Harless advanced to third on the error and was brought in with a single to right field by Ryan Grimsley. Harless’ run gave the Steers a 4-0 lead and capped off runs on four consecutive at-bats.

Grimsley advanced to second on a wild pitch to Brodie Bates. Bates singled to right field, giving the Steers runners on first and third base. With a wild ball three to Ty Thompson, Grimsley scored and Bates advanced to second. Thompson reached second base on an error at second base while Bates advanced to third.
