Sub-varsity football dominates Bridgeport at home

It was a special night for the Graham freshman and junior varsity football teams last week. Both teams defeated Bridgeport by a combined score of 96-0 last Thursday, Oct. 18 at Newton Field.

The 9th-graders began the evening with a 36-0 thumping of the visiting Bulls. Three second quarter fumble recoveries by the Graham defense allowed the team to open up a big lead.

The Steers held a 16-0 lead at halftime and increased the advantage in the third quarter. Three first down runs from Trey Alverez allowed Graham to go 68 yards in eight plays, which resulted in an Alverez 8-yard scamper into the end zone on fourth-and-four. Alverez’s run put the Steers up 22-0 with 4:14 left in the third quarter.
