Girls Cross Country looks strong in Seymour

Graham's girls cross country team finished second at the Seymour Invitational last Saturday at Seymour High School, just a week after winning the Perkins Invitational in Burkburnett. Holliday, the team that won the meet, had an incredible seven runners finish in the top 15. Khloe Morris led the way for Graham with a time of 13:34.94 that was good for ninth place. Priscilla Herrera came in just 24 seconds later to finish 14th overall. Debi Hunter, Kendra Williams, Maria Hernandez and Lexi Fuentes came in 18th, 20th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.

Lady Blues beat Bridgeport and Brock, fall in state rankings

The Graham Lady Blues took down the Bridgeport Sissies in impressive fashion last Friday night at the Graham High School gym. The Blues beat the Sissies 25-17; 25-18; 25-16, in three straight sets in which the team played closer to their potential than they had in a week. Graham then took down Brock Tuesday night 25-22; 25-17; 21-25; 25-18. The first win gave the Blues something they desperately needed: a convincing win over a lesser opponent, in which Graham dictated their own level of play. Against Bridgeport, Jasmine Sims had 12 kills, 16 assists and 17 digs. The second win came against a s

Steers get first win by shutting down Hirschi running game

Graham’s 28-0 win over Hirschi Friday night wasn’t the underdog story it seemed to be on the surface. Sure, Hirschi came into the game with a 2-0 record, while Graham had lost its only two games, but the opponents in those games tell a different tale. Nonetheless, the Steers marched into Friday night’s game needing their first win, while the Huskies looked to remain undefeated. Each team’s defense held the opposing offense for most of the first quarter. Graham finally put some numbers on the board late in the opening quarter when Jaxon Brockway scampered in to give Graham a 7-0 lead after the

Bryson remains undefeated with 42-14 win over Moran

The Bryson Cowboys continued their dominance Friday night with a 42-14 road victory over Moran. Though the score points to a one-sided affair, Bryson coach Jason Briles said his Cowboys didn’t play their best, despite the win. “We played sloppy offense,” he said. “We had five turnovers that left at least 30 points on the field. But the defense played strong. Defensive coordinator Hunter Hays had them ready to go, and Tanner Buchanan played his best game so far this season.

JV Blues win Windthorst Tournament, showcase depth of program

The Graham Lady Blues are now ranked No. 15 in the state in 4A thanks to impressive wins earlier this season over Krum (No. 1) and Denver City (No. 11) and a steady stream of solid victories since. The Blues continue to impress as they head toward district play, but they aren't the only Graham volleyball team making a name for themselves. The JV Blues have put together an impressive season themselves, with their biggest accomplishment thus far being a first place trophy at the Windthorst tournament on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Bryson Cowgirls fooled by schedule, beat Perrin in three straight

PERRIN – Bryson was under the impression it was playing its district opener Tuesday night vs. the Pirates here. Because of a scheduling mistake, the match between the two Jack County foes was played as a non-district affair instead with the visiting Cowgirls posting a 25-12, 25-21, 25-10 victory. District will now commence for both schools Saturday with Bryson traveling to Graford and Perrin playing at Chico. Bryson Mentor Chelsea Kincaid said her squad has improved over the last month. “Due to some change in rotations, we have been getting much better,” Kincaid said.

Lady Blues ranked No. 15 in state, beat Jacksboro

The Graham Lady Blues showed up in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association as the No. 15 ranked 4A team in the state. The honor comes after a week in which the Blues fell to 3A No. 8 ranked team, Boyd, before disposing with Brownwood and Jacksboro. "It came out that we're No. 15 on Monday but they didn't find out until Wednesday," Faulk said. "I didn't really want them to know, but it came out and I think that has given them some confidence.

Steers get first win with 28-0 shutout

The Graham Steers got their first win in a 28-0 shutout over the Hirschi Huskies Friday night at Newton Field.
The two teams came in with opposite records, Graham winless while the Huskies boasted dual victories and no losses.
But it was the Steers who came out with the first touchdown of the game to go up 7-0 early.
A Hirschi fumble on the ensuing drive gave Graham the ball in desirable field position where Jaxon Brockway walked it in from five yards out to put the score at 14-0.
