Steers Baseball knocks off Bangs in warmup game

The Steers want to keep their momentum going as they inch closer to the playoffs. On Saturday, Graham hosted Bangs in a practice game before the playoffs begin next weekend. The Steers came away victorious 6-2.

Steers head coach Jim Bob Williams, a Graham native, used to coach at Bangs. Bangs is competitive in 3A and located near Brownwood. Bangs is in District 7-3A with Comanche, Coleman, Early and Brady. 

GSA youth soccer travels to Abilene

The Graham Soccer Association sent all-star teams to compete in Abilene on Saturday in the AU Nation 5v5 Cup two day tournament. The GSA sent 10 teams to Abilene to compete at the tournament. This is the first time the GSA has sent teams to this tournament.

The GSA entered two U7 girls teams, one U7 boys team, one U8 boys team, two U12 girls teams, two U11 boys teams and two coed U14 teams.

Steers baseball playoff preview

The 4A baseball playoffs get started next week and the competition will be intense. The Graham Steers (13-13-1, 3-5) will be the bottom seed in the Bi-district round. They are set to face the top-seed and the 13th ranked 4A team in the state, Iowa Park (17-5, 8-1). 

The Steers are familiar with Iowa Park. Graham split the season series with the Hawks. The Steers narrowly defeated the Hawks 9-8 on March 3. Graham then fell to Iowa Park 14-4 on April 9. Both games had one common theme, offense.

QA: Softball season in review

The softball season ended sooner than the Lady Blues had hoped. The season was tough for Graham and the Blues went through some growing pains. 

I sat down with Blues head coach Phillip Irby on Thursday afternoon to discuss his thoughts at the end of the season.
