Lady Blues split games going into Thanksgiving break

The Lady Blues split a pair of back-to-back games this week leading into the Thanksgiving holiday. After traveling to Windthorst and enjoying a blowout victory, 66-33, the team hosted Jim Ned and suffered a massive defeat of their own with a 66-36 loss.

It has been a grueling span of days for the Lady Blues. Several members were supporting the football team in Lubbock last week and followed it up with three games in four days.

Steers prepare for meeting with familiar opponent

The Graham Steers, on their longest playoff run since 2017, will meet a familiar opponent this evening. The Aubrey Chaparrals await the Steers for a meeting at Globe Life Park at 6:30 p.m. this evening.

With a minute left in the game, it appeared that Greenwood, not Aubrey was going to be tonight’s opponent. Bryson Bohannon missed a game-tying field goal with 56 seconds remaining. They regained possession on a botched kneel attempt 12 seconds later. On the next play, Jacob Holder saved the day with a 12-yard touchdown reception to complete the victory.

Steers run over Perryton, advance to regionals in Arlington

It did not take the Steers long to earn their first trip to the regional round since 2017. With a 49-7 win over the Perryton Rangers at Peoples Bank Stadium in Wolfforth, the Steers advance to face their former district foe Aubrey.

The Steers received the ball to start and they were off and running. The Rangers were fed a steady dose of the running game led by Daniel Gilbertson. With two touchdowns in less than six minutes, the Steers found themselves with a lead they went on to hold for the rest of the way.

Steers soccer announces 2020 alumni match

The Graham Steers and Lady Blues soccer teams will be opening practices for the 2020-2021 season next week. With the start of practices, the Steers have announced Dec. 12 as the date for the annual Steers alumni soccer match. This year will also feature the first Lady Blues alumni match on the same day.

The matches will take place at Newton Field. The inaugural Lady Blues alumni soccer match will take place at noon. Following the Lady Blues match will be the Steers alumni match at 2 p.m.

Lady Blues lose in Haskell, top Jacksboro in overtime

The Lady Blues split a pair of games in girls basketball last week. After falling 45-30 in Haskell, the Lady Blues picked up their first win of the season Saturday. The Lady Blues improved to 1-2 with a 52-50 overtime win at home against the previously unbeaten Jacksboro Tigerettes.

Thursday’s loss marked the return of Hannah Isom, Leah Holland and Rachel Grimsley to the team. The trio, also on the volleyball team, missed the season opener as the team continued its playoff run.
