Lady Blues sweep Levelland for bi-district championship

Both Graham and Levelland came into the bi-district match with similar records. The two teams met on a neutral court with the hopes of advancing their season.

But ultimately, one team moved on and the other went home.

Though it took some time to get the wheels rolling, the Lady Blues eventually ran away with a 3-0 sweep over the Loboettes by scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-8.

Lady Blues handle business in playoff warmup

Before the team hits the road for their bi-district playoff game, the Graham Lady Blues played a warm-up game against Sweetwater.

It didn’t take long for the Lady Blues to establish their dominance Friday, Nov. 1 over the visiting Lady Mustangs, as Graham went on to sweep the match 3-0 by set scores of 25-15, 25-10 and 25-17.

For a team that won 23 games during the regular season, Graham looked the part. The offense powered down kills at a high rate, setters made excellent passes and the defense, particularly at the net, was strong.

Steers leave no doubt, knock off Brock 38-0

Since district realignments happened earlier this year and each team’s football schedules came to be, the game between the Graham Steers and the Brock Eagles was circled on everyone’s calendars.

Players looked forward to it. Coaches knew it was coming. Parents felt the tension leading up to it.

And when the day arrived, the Steers left absolutely no doubt who was the best team in District 3-4A Division II.

(TC GORDON | THE GRAHAM LEADER) Senior Georgia Martin missed the first month of the season with an injury, but once she came back she stepped right into the role the team expected of her. She’s been one of the top setters for the team this year, and in the wins against Mineral Wells and Brownwood in the last week she continued to showcase her leadership and playmaking abilities.

Martin, Rogers named Athletes of the Week

The regular season for volleyball came to a close this week and football is deep in the race to the playoffs as well.

Graham’s volleyball team finished with two big wins as they head into the postseason while the football team dominated another district game.

For their performances in their team’s respective wins, Georgia Martin of the Lady Blues and Brycen Rogers of the Steers have been selected as Athletes of the Week.

Lady Blues basketball preps for new season with new head coach

As seasonal weather changes, so too, do sports seasons. While football and volleyball are still working in the latter part of their seasons, basketball teams around Texas are gearing up for another year of competition.

The Graham Lady Blues are getting ready to hit the hardwood next week when they kick off their season Tuesday, Nov. 5 on the road against the Haskell Lady Maidens. From that moment until the end of the season in February, Graham’s girls will be hard at work and doing so under the direction of their new head coach.

Steers trample Rams in fourth straight shutout

Over a month of time has passed since Graham’s defense has allowed an opponent to score a single point.

The last team to put any sort of points on the board against the Steers’ powerful defense was the Decatur Eagles back on Sept. 20. And Graham went on to win that game 34-14.

Last Friday, in a match-up of two of the better teams in District 3-4A, the Steers took control early and never let up in a 37-0 thrashing of the visiting Rams.
