Karen Peck and New River to perform Nov. 1

Fri, 10/28/2016 - 1:35 pm
The Graham Concert Association presents Karen Peck and New River at the Graham Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Karen Peck and New River is a gospel music act with three Southern Gospel Music Awards and three Grammy Award nominations. GCA presents a variety of performance artists each season composed of diverse genres and talented entertainers. This are one of six concerts on GCA’s lineup, which includes southern gospel, big band and jazz, Texas swing and bluegrass-folk acts. Carter Pettit, president of Graham Concert Association, says the association’s goal is to offer a wide range of quality talent to its members and the community at an affordable price. “We book a mix of performers that appeal to our members and community, but to also provide a sample of different styles of performance art and culture,” said Pettit. “Our membership has different tastes in music, anything from the symphony to bluegrass fusion.” GCA booked Karen Peck and New River this season giving its audience a chance to experience award-winning southern gospel music. The musical act has received 11 Favorite Soprano Fan Awards from the readers of The Singing News magazine, a leading fan and trade publication for southern gospel music. “This is our first time to visit Graham, and we are looking forward to a great night of music and fellowship,” Karen Peck said. “We will be performing some of our most requested songs from our catalogue and hope everyone enjoys the show.” In the last four years, New River charted six consecutive #1 songs, and their current album, “Revival,” garnered two consecutive #1 songs with “Revival” and “Finish Well.” The gospel act is celebrating 25 years of performing and recording music. In 2014, “Revival” won GMA Dove Award’s Southern Gospel Song of the Year, SGN Diamond Awards Song of the Year, and Absolutely Gospel Music Awards for Song of the Year and Progressive Song of the Year. Their album, “Ephesians One” features the #1 song, “I Want To Thank You,” which was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. With appearances on stages such as The Grand Ole Opry, The Gaither Homecoming concerts, Opryland Theme Park, Dollywood, and Six Flags Over Georgia, the group has established their place in southern gospel music. New River has been featured on television networks, including TBN’s Praise The Lord, the Grand Ole Opry Live, and Gaither Gospel Series. The concert association has been continuously operating for more than 70 years, Pettit said, bringing entertainment and culture to help enrich life in Graham. “There are people who have the means to live anywhere, but they choose Graham, because of the quality of life here with the concert association contributes to that,” Pettit said. Upcoming GCA shows include Flying J Wranglers Christmas Show on Dec. 13, Dawn and Hawkes of “The Voice” fame on Jan. 17, and Dallas Jazz Orchestra will close the season Feb. 21. GCA sells season tickets and individual performance tickets at the door. Tickets for Karen Peck and New River are available at the door, $20 for adults and $5 for students. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The performance starts at 7 p.m. For more information visit grahamconcertassociation.com or contact Karen Pettit at 940-549-3600.
