GISD launches 2024 bond website

Graham ISD recently made resources available online for the public regarding the two bond propositions which will be included on the May ballot.
The district website with information related to the GISD 2024 bond is available at grahamisd.com/56781_1. The website includes information on Proposition A and Proposition B, voting information and the tax impact on residents within the district for both bond options combined.
The district website also includes the ability to submit questions regarding the upcoming bond options. As of Thursday, Feb. 8, no information meeting dates were set on the website.
The GISD Board of Trustees called the election Nov. 8, 2023 and approved Proposition A at $27,500,000 and Proposition B at $10,500,000 for the Saturday, May 4 election. This is the second election attempt by the district after its $49.4 million bond election failed in May 2023.
Proposition A – $27,500,000
Proposition A is the consolidation from three to two elementary school campuses as well as the demolition of Woodland Elementary School, with the exception of the gymnasium. Pioneer Elementary School will serve preschool through second grade students.
At Pioneer, 20 new classrooms will be added for the two additional grade levels as well as new science and computer labs.
The campus library will be renovated and receive additions. A new gymnasium will be added and the cafeteria will be expanded.
Additionally, new faculty and event parking and the addition and renovation of the playground will occur at the Pioneer campus. The campus will also have safety corridors that classify as storm shelters.
Crestview Elementary School will serve third through fifth grade students. The campus will receive minor renovations, an expanded dining space and restroom renovations.
Proposition B – $10,500,000
Proposition B is the construction of a student multipurpose 60-70 yard facility.
The facility would be used by all extracurricular programs which include band, dance, cheer, soccer, softball, baseball, track, football, summer strength and conditioning, 7on7 tournaments and more.
The facility will be marked for band, football, soccer, softball and baseball, according to information included on the district bond website.
Election Information
Early voting for the election will be held at North Central College from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22-26 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 29-30.
Election day voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at NCTC, First United Methodist Church in Graham, First Baptist Church of Newcastle, Loving VFD and Olney Community Library. Voters can vote at any of the locations during the voting period.
Prop. A Ballot Language
The issuance of $27,500,000 of bonds by the Graham Independent School District for the construction, renovation, acquisition and equipment of school facilities and safety and security enhancements in the District, and the levy of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds. This is a property tax increase.
