A two-vehicle wreck Friday west of Bryson on U.S. 380 resulted in the death of a Graham man.

The wreck occurred at approximately 5:14 a.m. about one mile west of Bryson in Jack County on U.S. 380, according to a release from Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Juan Gutierrez.

Tommy Bates, 80, of Graham, was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries sustained in the wreck.

A preliminary DPS investigation revealed a 2024 Kenworth truck tractor towing a semi trailer, driven by Paige Conway Amado, 68, of Dallas, was in the westbound lane of U.S. 380. Amado was backing unsafely with the trailer and crossing into the eastbound lane.

A 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by Bates, was traveling east on U.S. 380 and struck the trailer towed by Amado that was crossing into the eastbound lane.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and Amado was not injured due to the wreck.
