A 17-year-old Windthorst girl was killed Friday in a three-vehicle wreck in Archer County a half mile north of Windthorst on U.S. 281.

The wreck occurred at approximately 12:36 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20. According to a preliminary investigation from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Windthorst teen was traveling north on U.S. 281 in a 2019 Nissan Kicks with the driver of a second vehicle, Florencio Ramirez Garcia, 65, of Graham, behind her driving a 2020 Ford F-250.

The third vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Autumn Jaclynn Roach, 21, of Fort Worth, was traveling south on U.S. 281 when the Windthorst teen slowed to make a left turn. Garcia failed to control the speed of his vehicle and struck the back of the Nissan.

The Nissan spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by the Chevrolet Malibu. The teen was transported to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls and was later pronounced dead. DPS stated that it was unknown if the driver was wearing a seatbelt during the wreck.

Garcia, along with his passenger, Atanacia Ramirez, 61, of Graham, were not injured in the wreck and were both wearing seatbelts when it occurred.

Roach was also injured in the wreck and was wearing her seatbelt when it occurred.

The wreck is still under further investigation by DPS.
