Tue, 02/09/2021 - 8:44 am

Lewis was born Jan. 25, 1948 and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana, daughters Rachel Vega, Sarah Wallace and son Richard Sartain. He leaves behind his nine grandchildren and three sisters, Leona (Sartain) Cartwright, Lois (Sartain) Rensink and Letta (Sartain) Biebighauser. He has extended family living the South-mostly in Texas-from cousins to in-laws, nieces, nephews, and church family.

Lewis served in the Army from 1971 until 1973. He retired from the State of New Mexico Income Support Division in 2013. Lewis was active and served in his church, First Presbyterian of Hobbs for many years until he was no longer able. He had a love for life and loved to laugh-always and willing to share a joke and talk with you about anything. He was a natural handyman and loved to find solutions for any kind of repair. He passed from this life and into the hands of the Lord, Nov. 11, 2020.

Lewis was preceded in death by his father Lewis (Blackie) Sartain and mother Oleta (Ramzey) Sartain. Also, by two brothers-in-law, Jake Cartwright and Robert Rensink, and one grandchild, Nathaniel Vega.

There is limited seating (75 people limit). Masks are required. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13 at First Presbyterian Church.  Arrangements are with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, NM. Condolences may be made online at www.chapelofhopefunerals.com

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/donate) would be greatly appreciated.
