Steers golf finishes fourth in home competition

In the third event of the season for Graham, the Steers golf teams hosted an invitational Monday, Feb. 26 at the Graham Country Club.

The Steers first team finished fourth in the competition with a team score of 350. The Red River Rattlers of the Christian Home School Athletics Association took first overall in the event with a score of 306.

Abilene Wylie took second place with a 336, Brock came in third place with a 338 followed by the Steers first team. Graham’s second team finished in fifth place by carding a 387 overall.

Graham’s first team was led by Zach Bryan, who recorded a personal-best score of 83. Jagger Nees shot 85, Ben Lucas had an 88, Geurin Pettus shot 94 and Aidan Adams rounded things off with a 106.

The Steers’ second team was led by another player who shot his personal low score in Jack Van Winkle who had an 87. He was followed by Lawson Marin with a 93, Lance Browning with a 101, Riley Lanham with a 106 and Samuel Rodgers who shot 111.

Two other Graham golfers competed, with Keion Shead recording a 109 and Wyatt Pettus carding a 116.

The Steers’ next competition is Monday, March 4 in Wichita Falls. The Steers will also host a scramble event Monday, March, 18 at the Graham Country Club.
