Steers lift in Decatur, five advance to regionals

The Graham Steers powerlifting team competed in their final regular season event last week and five members of the team have advanced to the regional meet.

Devon Castro, Kaleb Crawford, Cameron McBride, Mateo Rodriguez and Scout Smith each qualified for the regional meet as they finished the season ranked in the top 12 of their respective weight classes in the region.

McBride sits tied for sixth place in his weight class, Rodriguez is in ninth place, Smith has seventh place, Castro is in ninth place and Crawford holds third place in his class.

The regional meet will be held Saturday, March 2 in Decatur, where the top two lifters in each weight class will advance to the state competition.

The boys had three opportunities in squats, bench press and deadlift. Listed below are weight classes, placement among those in that class and lift results in pounds for the varsity Steers.
