In their second event of the season, the Graham Steers varsity powerlifting squad returned to Weatherford to put their weight to the test against other schools from around the area.

The event involved the same schools from their first meet a few weeks ago — Peaster, Weatherford and Mineral Wells — so there was some familiarity with the competition. But powerlifting often involves achieving personal goals as each athlete strives to beat their own records.

The boys had three opportunities in squats, bench press and deadlift. The top weight in each category was added together and athletes were ranked based on their total weight in pounds lifted.

Listed below are weight classes, placement among those in that class and lift results in pounds for the varsity Steers.

Competition Results

181: 3. Cameron McBride, 455 squat, 260 bench, 485 deadlift, 1,200 total.
181: 5. Mateo Rodriguez, 475 squat, 225 bench, 435 deadlift, 1,135 total.
