Two Lady Blues powerlifters advance to regional meet

(TC GORDON | THE GRAHAM LEADER) Graham’s Mariah Frost prepares and sets herself up to do her squat lift during a powerlifting competition earlier this season. The Lady Blues competed in the Last Chance Qualifier at Weatherford last Thursday, Feb. 15.
The Graham Lady Blues powerlifters recently participated in a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) and two girls advanced to the regional meet in their weight class.
Hannah Hollingsworth and Jasmine Denton competed Thursday, Feb. 15 in the LCQ in Weatherford along with the rest of the girls powerlifting team and the two of them will move on to the regional qualifier Thursday, Feb. 29 in Denton.
The LCQ was an opportunity for individual lifters of all schools to try to make it into the top 12 of their weight class in the region.
The top 12 of each class will participate in the regional event in a little over a week.
After the meet in Weatherford, Hollingsworth sits at fourth in her weight class while Denton currently holds 12th place in hers. If either of them want to make it to the state meet, they’ll have to be in the top 2 of their weight class at regionals.
While each individual strived to qualify for regionals, they still were placed among other competitors in this event. Listed below are weight classes, placement among those in that class in this competition and lift results in pounds.

148: 12. Jaden Frost, 100 squat, 75 bench, 135 deadlift, 310 total.
181: 9. Jasmine Denton, 155 squat, 100 bench, 150 deadlift, 405 total.
