Dannie E. Sloan

Dannie E. Sloan, 79, passed away Feb. 10, 2021. A Graveside funeral was held at Medlan Chapel Cemetery in Young County. Arrangements were under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Dannie was born Sept. 15, 1941 in Fort Belknap to the late Irene (Mayo) Sloan and Elliott Marion Sloan. He graduated from Newcastle High School and was a lifetime resident of Young County. Dannie married Sandra Choate, Nov. 25, 1961 in Graham. He was a Master Electrician and the owner of Dan’s Oilfield Electrical.

Larry Wendell McBride

Paradise ~ Larry Wendell McBride, 80, went to be with our Lord on Feb. 8, 2021 in Graham.

Funeral was 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at The First Baptist Church of Boyd with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.

Verl W. Hart

Verl W. Hart, 69, passed into his eternal reward on Jan. 27, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas from complications due to COVID-19. The only child of Lucille and Verl Hart Sr., Verl graduated with the Graham High School class of 1970 before enlisting in the United States Air Force, as well as working in the tire industry for about 50 years.

Robert “Lewis” Sartain

Lewis was born Jan. 25, 1948 and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana, daughters Rachel Vega, Sarah Wallace and son Richard Sartain. He leaves behind his nine grandchildren and three sisters, Leona (Sartain) Cartwright, Lois (Sartain) Rensink and Letta (Sartain) Biebighauser. He has extended family living the South-mostly in Texas-from cousins to in-laws, nieces, nephews, and church family. 

Jimmie Ray Wheeler

Jimmie Ray Wheeler, age 70, of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Jan. 16, 2021, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital. He was born April 25, 1950, in Abilene, Texas, the son of Jimmie Joshuay Wheeler and Neta Fae Aston Wheeler.

Jimmie graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1968 and received an associate degree from Cisco Junior College. He worked for Frito-Lay approximately 20 years and then worked for Coca Cola and United Food Stores. He retired in 2013 from C.D. Harnett where he had been in sales.

Karen Jean (Lightfoot) Wright

Karen Jean (Lightfoot) Wright, 65, of Graham, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, in Amarillo.

A private memorial service will be held at the Alley House in Graham.

Karen was born Aug. 1, 1955, in Plainview, Texas, to Glen Alexander and Lois Marie (Adams) Lightfoot. She graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1973 in Ivanhoe, Texas. Karen was a woman who held many trades, including a licensed respiratory therapist, restaurant and bar owner, and competition cook, to name a few.

Jomance (Joe) Wallace

Jomance (Joe) Wallace, son of Ewing and Paralee Wallace passed away on Jan. 21, 2021 from COVID and other complications.  

A memorial services is not planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to Mission Arlington, one of Joe’s favorite charities.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sue, son Duane and wife Jaime and Gunner, his precious little dog and companion.

Mary Phillips

Mary Phillips passed away Jan. 27, 2021 in Mansfield, Texas. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 at Medlan Chapel Cemetery near Graham. Family visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home.

Mary was born April 5, 1953 in Graham to James Floyd (Jack) and Ollie Davis. She was a member of Faith Center in Graham and Faith Assembly of God Church in Arlington, Texas. Her husband, Melvin Wayne Phillips preceded her in death in 2020.
